Subject: [Tweeters] Stehekin birds

We spent August 14-16 at Stehekin on Lake Chelan.

Notable birds were a Red-eyed Vireo, 4 Common Loons,
Bufflehead, Goldeneye female (Barrows??), Vaux's
Swifts, Bald Eagle and a Catbird.

The strangest sighting was a young Cowbird that
adopted us and walked along the trail with us for
about 200 yards. It even hopped onto my hand. I've
threatened to strangle the cowbirds invading my Sierra
meadows, but this one was too cute to hate.

We saw one large Swift, but the fly-by was so fast,
backlit and silent that I didn't dare call Black vs.
White-throated. I'd bet it was a Black Swift, since
I've never experienced a silent White-throated.
