Subject: [Tweeters] Lake Whatcom Purple Martins

Hi Tweets, and Whatcom birders.

Hard to know with certainty from what I figure was about a mile
away, but am reasonably confident I scoped Purple Martins using one
of the old nestboxes on Lake Whatcom today, on abandoned pilings
along North Shore Drive, east south east of the public launch at
Bloedel Donovan Park. Too much recreational boat noise to hear
anything from this distance. I drove around the lake, but was unable
to locate this particular box from the few places where the lake is
visible from the road, neither did I hear any martins. From here
however, did notice a cluster of four gourds, apparently placed
for martins, at a dock in the Geneva area, back over on the same
side of the lake as the launch.

I'm wondering if any Whatcom birders may know of anyone with
waterfront access to this area, to get a closer look. And, who it
is in the Geneva area that has gourds hanging, apparently for Purple
Martins.

Thanks for any help.
