Had the chance to check Wenas lake, Yakima Co. for a couple of hours this
morning I
found a good variety of shorebird with a couple of highlights, though not
big numbers of any species.

Killdeer: 20+
Wilson's Snipe:7
Spotted Sandpiper: 6
Solitary Sandpiper:1
Lesser Yellowlegs:3
Least Sandpiper:11
Semi-palmated Sandpiper:2
BAIRD'S SANDPIPER:1
PECTORAL SANDPIPER: 1 adult in breeding plumage

Most of the birds were hanging out on the flats between the WDFW boat
launch and
the Wenas lake resort road, though closer to the resort road. The exceptions
to that
rule were the yellowlegs and the solitary that were right in the front of
the boat launch.

I expect diversity and numbers to pick up with the water line starting to
look pretty good for shorebirds. I was surprised not to find a western this
morning.
