Tweets,

Brad Waggoner took us for a ride in his boat this morning, from Shilshole to Point No Point and points between. Afterwards he and George Gerdts checked Blakely Rock and Restoration Point on Bainbridge. Nancy and I then took the Vashon Ferry and checked KVI beach for shorebirds and other Vashon Points.

Lots of RED-NECKED PHALAROPES in mid sound, particularly between Point Jefferson and Richmond Beach, at least 300, all juveniles.

A single flock of ca. 500 COMMON TERNS loafing on the beach at the Suquamish Indian Reservation and foraging offshore nearly to mid-channel.

33 COMMON MURRES (but just one father-child pair), ca. 20 RHINOCEROS AUKLETS, and 15 PIGEON GUILLEMOTS.

Lots of CALIFORNIA GULLS, a few MEW and HEERMANN'S GULLS, and a total of perhaps 700 BONAPARTE'S GULLS, and a single immature FRANKLIN'S GULL at Eglon just south of Point No Point.

Nancy and I lucked upon a nice group of peeps etc. at KVI beach at high tide, including a dozen KILLDEER, 15 LEAST, 7 WESTERN, 1 SEMIPALMATED, and 1 BAIRD'S SANDPIPER, all juveniles, plus a single SEMIPALMATED PLOVER.

George and Brad found 1 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER at Restoration Point and numbers of BLACK TURNSTONES, SURFBIRDS, and SANDERLINGS among other shorebirds roosting on Blakely Rock at high tide.

Things are picking up in the Sound. But no puffins, boobies, etc.
