I'm a little behind in my Tweeters reading so I'm not sure if the Nisqually Snowy Egret had been seen since Guy McWethy first saw it a week or two ago. Well, today I birded the loop around the refuge and was happy to stumble across the bird about 100 yards north of the Bank Fishing Access point on McAllister Creek. It was on the right-hand side about 20 yards off the trail/road at about 10:30 am. I ran into a birder from Spokane a while later who also saw the bird. There were several Green Heron's around including one by the Snowy.

Otherwise it was a pretty quiet day bird-wise. I saw an immature Cooper Hawk flying high followed by a flock of swallows and a nice Northern Harrier cruising low over the grass. Shorebird numbers and variety were limited...possibly because of the extremely low tide. I saw a handful of Semi Palm Plovers, Killdeer, W. Sandpiper, G and L Yellowlegs and a few mystery peeps.

Still, a beautiful day to be out.
