Hello All,
This afternoon while visiting Lyons Ferry Marina and the 295' long
pedestrian tunnel under the railroad tracks I discovered an active Barn
Swallow nest attached to the side of the corrugated steel tunnel some 85' in
from the north entrance. Upon investigating I discovered two, one day old
chicks in this nest set in the near dark of the tunnel. These are the latest
hatchling Barn Swallow chicks I have ever located in Eastern Washington.
Both adult birds were flying around outside the north entrance calling.
