Hi,
I had reported earlier this month about my concerns over a female Coopers that just kept cryin' and scaring all the birds from feeders; they knew long before she got nearby, that she was coming. I haven't heard her for a while, and thought maybe she had moved on, but no............she is now officially hunting, successfully. Her tail feathers are now longer, and she is lookin' rather plump. She still sits in the same trees uses the same perches, but no one realizes she is there. The crows aren't even bothering her much, they don't seem to aware of her.
This makes me happy, we call her 'our girl'.........my son says, "hey 'your girl' just got a sparrow!" Yea! So now she has a name, but will probably move on, I hope not though, she is doing well. Our neighbors with the big pond, are keeping thier feeders full and also love having her around. So we keep good track of her.
Besides, I like having a Cooper's in the winter, it keeps the passerines on their claws!
