Hi Tweets

In addition to Hal Opperman's post reminding us all of one of the aims of Tweeters, I would like to add that a great strength of the forum is that it is not restricted to just listing and reports. If you follow many of the threads you discover much enlightening and fascinating information about birds and how they relate to their environment.

Having contact with many people around the country, and seeing many of the follow-up posts from folks from other areas a consistent theme comes forth. People keep saying "thanks for not being a narrow list just concerned with what bird was seen at what location" and "we really value the breadth of information on Tweeters and the willingness of people to give of their knowledge". Most of these people say they wish that they had something like Tweeters where they lived, a place where they can ask a broad ranging question and receive many answers.

Please, lets not run ourselves into a tight corner. As pointed out, the subject line gives one a chance to use the delete key. I do so on many topics that I have found do not interest me, but I never know what neat little tidbit will pop up next.

Good birding and learning.

Hi Tweets-

I don't want to open a can of worms (or read about them here), but I agree with other posters that this forum is for birding. We all have a myriad of other interests in life, we're all nice people with curiosities, but the purpose of this site is to report and discuss birds. If there are a lot of people interested in herps or plants, please go forth and start another discussion list. I really don't want to have to weed (OK, another pun) through non-bird stuff on Tweeters.

Happy birding-
