Subject: [Tweeters] Decoy nest draws a hawk?

I happened to look out my back deck door just in time to see a Coopers Hawk
take off from a perch on the deck railing. I was surprised as I have never
had a hawk on my back deck and could not think of why it would have landed
there. Then I noticed that the little fake nest and fake bird which used to
be a Christmas ornament had apparently fallen off the ficus and landed
upright on the deck. From a distance it looks like an English Sparrow in a
cup nest (which is amusing since they are cavity nesters but what do the
Chinese who make them know?). I guess that the fake nest was maybe real
looking enough to bring in the hawk for a closer look.

Later the hawk was seen chasing after a Robin but the Robin dropped into a
salmonberry tangle which the hawk did not want to get involved with and it
swerved and went off elsewhere.
