I think it makes more sense to keep it here. In fact, I still mourn
the old tweeters, with no-holds barred in-depth discussions and
long-running pun wars. Sightings are pretty darned boring in
comparison.

But:

Local critter discussions are welcome on the pnw-natives list. If they
start to outnumber the native plant gardening too much, or if enough
people want a local ecology/natural history group without the
gardening, I could always create one. There's already a separate list
for invertebrates, pnw-spineless, though there aren't yet enough
subscribers to keep up much traffic.

I run my own mail server and lists, so there's no advertising. Only
subscribers can post, so no spam. All formatting and attachments are
stripped. Archives are public, so the paranoid should sub with a spare
address (but I get more spam to some of my unused addresses than I get
to my very public ones. Secrecy is a placebo.) As always, the
listowner does all of the work, and therefore makes all of the rules.
One of mine is that no one but the listowner has the right to say a
topic is off-topic or banned, and anyone who thinks they get too much
mail needs to learn to use their filters :-).
