Earlier in the day somebody got a good photo of the American Bittern at
Juanita Bay Park, showing a dark streak on the neck, so this bird appears to
be an adult. (rescinding my earlier hesitant call that it was a juvenile,
since I missed the dark streak in my evening viewing of the bird!)
