Tweeters,
This morning around 10:30 I was fortunate enough to sight both
a GREATER and a LESSER YELLOWLEGS at the Montlake Fill's
main pond. Their simultaneous arrival initially confused me, but
the two birds settled in different spots and never associated with
one another. I was able to compare size, relative bill length, etc.
quite carefully; a rare opportunity indeed. Flying in at the same
time was a group of four LEAST SANDPIPERS and two WESTERNS,
also a good comparison opportunity. A KILLDEER made it five
shorebird species, a pretty good day at the Fill!
