Hi Tweets,

I went out today for a couple of hours to try out a new camera.
Penn Plaza/Alder Street in downtown Moses Lake provided nice view of 15
Dunlin, 2 Least Sandpipers, and 2 Long-billed Dowitcher. Other shorebirds
present included several Wilson's Snipe and Killdeer. It is nice to see
wintering shorebirds again, especially with the temperatures dipping below
zero a few days ago.
Good numbers of Hooded Mergansers were about and showing off, while 50 or
more Tundra Swans continued napping. Waterfowl were represented by most of
the expected species.
The winter roost of Black-Crowned Night-Herons has grown to over 50 birds
and usually peaks around 80. Time will tell if numbers are down this year.
Gulls numbers are way down due to the freezing temperatures with only a few
Ring-bills, Herring, and California still hanging on, though a single adult
Thayer's was a nice treat.

Cheers
