Birders,

I am visiting this week from South Carolina, and saw the White-fronts
at Montlake Fill. Also there were Golden-crowned Sparrows and I got a
great look at a Thayer's Gull. These were lifers for me! The White-fronted
Geese were not, they are scare but regular in SC. A bit later today I found
A drake Eurasian
Wigeon very near shore at Magnuson Park. This was also a life bird. There
was a Meadowlark at Magnuson. Tommorrow I plan to join the ELWAS trip to
Skagit
Flats. Hoping for more lifers there, like Northern Shrike. Boy, Seattle sure
does have a lot of waterbirds!

We watched a Western Meadowlark at the Montlake Fill in Seattle on
Sunday, 12/03, during the mid-afternoon as it was feeding in the open
grassy areas on the ground between the ponds and the Montlake Cut
side of the Fill. It seemed to be the only one around at that time.
While not rare it's an interesting find to see in town. The Greater
White-Fronted Geese were also there: looked to be Arctic Tundra race
with two adults and 4 first or second year birds. They were mostly
with the Canada Goose flock but were also observed off by themselves
but always in the general vicinity of the ponds.
