For the Everett-Marysville CBC coming up this next December 16, we have need
of a birder with kayak or boat to circle the Jetty Island--that is, you
count the water birds on your close-in trip, and then walk the island
itself. A further option would be to venture abit northeast and cover the
shoreline of Smith Island (in our territory), which cannot be readily seen
from the land side and would be easiest from the water. Launching is a snap
from the boat launch at the north end of Marine View Drive and a stone's
throw from the island itself.
In past years, the Jetty Island coverage has produced notable shorebirds and
divers, among others, and a Snowy Owl was at the north end last year. If
interested, please give me a call (425-210-2716) or Mary Teesdale
(360-734-2561) and we'll get you all set up.
