This is a summary of the interesting birds reported in Spokane County during
the past three weeks.

1 new year bird was seen being a COMMON REDPOLL that was briefly in a west
Spokane yard Dec 2. That brings our group year list to 247. Check out the
progress at http://www.spokaneaudubon.org

2 Spokane SNOWY OWLS were seen yesterday. One was along Carstens Road south
of Hwy 2 along the county line. One was along Keeney Road near Hwy 195 near
Spangle. Also 2 SNOWY OWLS were in Lincoln Co yesterday, west of Reardon.
One was along Detour Road. One was near Jannet & Morrison Rds.

The Fairfield EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES continue to be seen near the elevators
(try Railroad Street). The number has dropped from seven to five. A
correction to my previous post is this is the second, not first report for
the county. Also, there are now 20 Collared-Doves in Davenport, Lincoln Co.

On Dec 2, a SNOW BUNTING was with Horned Larks SE of Fairfield at the
intersection of Starr & Stafford Roads, accessed by Truax Rd. An immature
GOLDEN EAGLE was nearby.

On Dec 2, a very late BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK was in a yard north of Spokane.
The observer could not rule out ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK which might be more
likely at this late date. It has not been seen again.

On Nov 21, an ALBINO WILD TURKEY was photographed on Holcomb Rd. near Mt.
Spokane.

On Nov 26, a male YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD was at a feedlot north of Medical
Lake.

On Nov 27, a RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET was along the Little Spokane River.

Our 3 BLUE JAYS dropped by Dec 3. They are still not dependable enough to
chase. I haven't heard of any others yet.

Good Birding,
