Hello, all.
Netta Smith and I stopped in Goldendale, Klickitat Co., WA, briefly
on a trip down highway 97, drove around a few city streets looking
for Eurasian Collared-Doves and suddenly saw a tall, leafless tree
full of them! There were about 18-20 in the flock. We stopped and had
just started counting them when a Sharp-shinned Hawk bombing past
under the tree apparently spooked them, and they left the tree in a
whoosh and scattered. Eight of them came back, and we got good looks
at them but couldn't find the others again. They were on Court Street
just south of Main Street. My first for Washington, I knew it was
only a matter of time before I stumbled on one or more of them. From
the reports I recall seeing on tweeters, I wouldn't be surprised if
there were hundreds of them by now in Washington.
