To add to the snowberry file, I still vividly remember seeing my first good look at Purple Finches, that were feeding on snowberries outside our kitchen window in Madison, Wisconsin in the late 1940's.
Somewhere I read that snowberries require aging before they are acceptable to birds; making for a late winter food. Maybe they have a little alcohol in them by late winter?
