Hi Tweeters,

In Bridgeport Wa I saw 2 flocks of Bohemian Waxwings
today.

On Huntzinger Rd near Vantage I saw approx 4-7
Gray-crowned Rosy Finches going to roost.

What a marathon of driving, and the only thing to make
me feel better about it is my car burns the fossil
fuel cleanly, it is a percent zero emissions vehicle,
so not much leaves the tail pipe.

Oh what lovely birds those Bohemian Waxwings are.
My first flock was of about 50+ birds in the town of
Bridgeport at 19th and Monroe. They were perched high
on some tall trees and would swoop down to 2 juniper
looking trees to eat the fruit. It won't take them
long to strip clean. The second flock was at the
corner of Grange and Moe road, if you have Birder's
Guide to Wa. this is shown on p.382. This flock of
waxwings was only about 12 birds and they moved
through and away. I tried vainly to find an Am. Tree
Sparrow there. Tons of White-crowned Sparrows, some
were singing, a nice sound in a white, wintry
landscape.

I dashed back to Huntzinger Rd to hopefully catch the
Rosy Finches. It took awhile for them to fly in and I
was just enjoying my first looks at one sitting in a
Cliff Swallow nest when 3 carloads of people came
driving up, stopped and wanted to know what I was
looking at. I told them. They got out and hauled out
their optics and enjoyed the birds too. Some of them
knew me and vice versa. It was a group from Rainier
and Tahoma Audubon. Being a birder can be a good
thing. They were so pleased they gave me parting
goodies so I didn't need to stop to buy dinner on the
way home. Thanks guys and gals!
