Hello All:
As far as I know, there were only 4 well-spaced and brief sightings of the
Long-billed Murrelet at Point No Point today between 8:45am and 3:30pm.
Steve Pink and Ted Pederson first saw the bird early this morning from the
lighthouse, after which it flew west. A bit after that, Ryan Shaw saw the
bird very briefly from Vic Nelson's place, but I couldn't get on it. It
wasn't seen again until 12:55 when Penny Rose and two others (sorry I've
forgotten your names!) observed it. Finally, I had a quick and barely
conclusive view of the bird at around 2:00.

The weather was nasty with few breaks from the rain and wind. The heavy chop
made seeing murrelets on the water very tough, and they were easily lost.
Ryan and I had probably 40-45 Marbleds, including a mostly alternate
plumaged bird. The largest numbers of murrelets were seen in the morning,
from about 10am to noon.

Cheers
