Hi Folks:
While scouting for the TAS CBC which will happen Sat, Dec 16, Patti Coolsen
and I visited the fields near "Doris' Field" in Fife. We turned east from
54th Ave onto 12th St. There was a beautiful male Cinnamon Teal, along with
about 30 Green-winged Teal, and approx. 15 Wilson's Snipe in the flooded
part of one of the fields. All of the birds were near the Green-wings. We
hope the teal remains so we don't have to count it as "count week".
An adult Peregrine Falcon was perched on the underside of the always-open
Hylebos Bridge.
A quick view of the log-booms on the north part of Commencement Bay showed
about 20 Black Turnstones. We birded today in all sorts of wild weather.
None of it lasted more than 10 minutes at a time, thank goodness. Warm
temps in the 50's helped.
Yours, Carol Schulz
