The birds in my yard won't touch anything other than black oil sunflower seeds, and they don't seem to care if it's premium. The squirrels love them, too, but I have a one-year old Schnauzer mix that chases them away effectively. My problem is that I had taken to broadcasting some of the seeds on the ground for the ground feeders, but two other four-legged creatures have taken a partiality to them: my Schnauzer mix and my Border Collie! The worst part is that they seem to act as a mild laxative.
I've had to lay down some metal fencing under the feeders and wherever I don't want Gabi or Rosie to get at them. Then, of course, the high winds came, scattering seeds beyond the fencing. Oh, well.
