A short-eared owl was hunting in the vicinity of LaFrambois Road (south end
of Vancouver Lake) about dusk Friday, Dec. 15th but I was unable to locate
either the Harlan's redtail hawk or the roughleg I reported earlier. Earlier
in the afternoon, perhaps 250 tundra swans were on the lake where Salmon
Creek crosses under Fruit Valley Road. There are always swans at that location
but this number is higher than normal.
