This was not the year for swallows, but we did have some nice finds on the
Everett-Marysville CBC this year. We seem a bit down for species this year
(estimated in 120s), but still have yet to hear from Everett, Jetty Island,
and a couple inland sites, and the boat party. As in the last two years,
Mary Teesdale and I had real good luck in area 11 (Everett STP north to
Biringer Farm, Smith Island) with 88-89 species. Highlights for the CBC
thus far reported:

Cinnamon Teal 4 (Marysville STP)
Redhead 9 (Everett STP)
GYRFALCON 1 (gray morph, swooped on Dunlin flock at flooded out horse
pasture off n. side of 12th Street SE, the road that has overpass over I-5
by Dagmar's Landing, new to CBC)

Anna's Hummingbird 2 (on Tulalip Res, rare on this CBC)
HORNED LARK 2 (private property on Smith I, new to CBC)
8-sparrow day (no incl. Junco) in our area including:

large numbers of Lincoln's, Song and Fox, reasonable numbers of GC, WC
Sparrows
Savannah Sparrow 9 (real high for this CBC)
SWAMP SPARROW 4 (singles scattered along west side of paved (bike) trail
running north along west side of Union Slough, east of STP/west of Spencer
I)
HARRIS' SPARROW 1 (in large Zono flock, central Biringer Farm)

Also, it seems to have been a above-average showing for Short-eared Owl and
N. Shrike, and I ran into a surprising number of Yellow-rumped Warblers in
my area. Least Sandpiper again had a strong showing in the Spencer/Smith
Islands area. As each year, misses were also apparent, such as a complete
miss on game birds, Hutton's Vireo (!, at least until one-two inland parties
report), Evebeak and Red Crossbill; night owls were almost non-existent
despite two parties looking. Despite the cold snap in late Nov, we still
managed the 3 regular warblers, although no Com Yellowthroat was to be found
on Spencer I's s.w. shore this year.
