Hi all,

I will make this brief as I am already in trouble for missing part of a
family gathering. Today at 12:30 Vic Nelson called me reporting a possible
Eye-browed Thrush coming to the holly tree adjacent to the Coast Guard
living quarters near the lighthouse at Point no Point. He has no electricity
so is not able to post at this time. I went out there and received a brief,
but distant scope view at 1:30. I had to return home so I was unable to
stick around. Vic called back and a few birders have re-seen the bird at
2:00, so hopefully further reports and details will come in this evening.

>From what I saw and from some of the details relayed from Vic the bird most
resembles a female Eye-browed Thrush (as depicted in 4th addition National
Geographic). The bird is smaller and thinner than the robins and has a dark
bill. Vic saw much further details including a distinct supercillium, but I
will let others supply further details as I was only able to make out a few
details about its nape, back and tail.

Stay tuned.

Sorry I am not able to relay any reports of the rare alcids.
