The Kent-Auburn CBC, sponsored by Rainier Audubon Society, was held 17
December this year. We were fortunate with calm weather, though the recent
power failures in the area kept participation somewhat low. A preliminary
total of 119 species was recorded on count day. Here are some of the notable
finds (numbers approximate as not all results in yet):

Trumpeter Swan: 4; 2 ad., 2 imm.
Cackling Goose: 400+
Eurasian Green-winged (Common) Teal: 1 in 204th Street fields.
Redhead: 1
Gyrfalcon: 1 reported from Smith Brothers Dairy.
Western Screech-Owl: still hanging on at Redondo.
Orange-crowned Warbler: 2
White-throated Sparrow: 2
Lincoln's Sparrow: almost certainly a high count; one area had 110.
