Alan and I enjoyed stunningly beautiful weather, our life Acorn
Woodpeckers, and excellent company on Bob Hansen's expertly organized
and fun Lyle CBC. A flock of Lesser Goldfinch gave us a breath of
spring as temperatures rose to 37 and Mt. Hood supervised 38 fine
birders as they sighted over 100 species. I do not have the details,
but wish to recommend this count to those who have not yet experienced
Klickitat County's specialties and to those who enjoy birding the
Columbia Gorge. I was lucky to spot a 'two nights for the price of one'
online special at the Inn of the White Salmon, which has relaxing
vintage accommodations with the best B&B breakfast I've ever imagined.
(I don't know anyone who works there--just passing on a very good deal
to fellow birders.)
