I went out this morning to scout some of the hot spots in my area for the Satsop CBC. Lots of waterfowl are present along Wenzel Slough Rd. in the many ponds that now dot the fields once again. At Vance Creek county park, a Western Grebe continues to grace the main pond. Close the mid-point of Wenzel Slough Rd., I saw a lone male Common Goldeneye. I haven't seen a male yet this season until now. At the west end of Wenzel Slough Rd., there were a few swans about. Plus upon a utility pole that I have seen a Peregrine Falcon on twice now in the past couple weeks, there was a Merlin instead of the Peregrine this time. I'm sure the Dunlin in the area have attracted the falcons. Lastly, up at the nuke site mitigation pond, I sorted through all the ducks. I didn't spot any Cinnamon Teal this time, but there were at least 5 Eurasian Wigeon present.
