RARE BIRD ALERT for out-of-town LONG-BILLED MURRELET and THICK-BILLED MURRE.


Sightings for Saturday, December 16th:

In WA, a THICK-BILLED MURRE was seen at Point No Point
in Kitsap County. However, the LONG-BILLED MURRELET
which has been present since Dec 9th, was not seen today.


In Delta, 2 EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES were seen again
at 3706 88th Street, near the foot of 88th. Nearby, 3 SNOWY
OWLS were present at the foot of 72nd St.

At the Reifel Bird Sanctuary in Delta, an immature NORTHERN
GOSHAWK, an AMERICAN BITTERN, a ROUGH-LEGGED
HAWK, 5 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT HERONS, and a NORTHERN
SHRIKE were sighted.

At the base of the Tsawwassen jetty in Delta, the WILLET was
again present.


Sightings for Friday, December 15th:

In WA, the KING EIDER continues to be seen daily at the
Semiahmoo Resort near Blaine.

In Delta, 2 RED KNOTS were seen with 10 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS
in a field at the junction of Deltaport Way and 41B St. Nearby along
34th St, another RED KNOT was seen with 100 BLACK-BELLIED
PLOVERS. Also in Delta, a SNOWY OWL was present at the
foot of 72nd St. Also here, 1 WESTERN MEADOWLARK and a
LINCOLN'S SPARROW were present. Nearby at the intersection
of Hwy 10 and 72nd St, a 1st winter GLAUCOUS GULL and an adult
WESTERN GULL were seen.

At the Tsawwassen jetty, 3 SNOW BUNTINGS were seen halfway
down the gravel road on the south side.

In North Vancouver, 2 CACKLING GEESE were present along Low
Level Road.

In Port Coquitlam, TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS were sighted at
two different locations.

Sightings for Wednesday, December 13th:

At the Vancouver Airport, a SHORT-EARED OWL was seen.
Nearby at the Iona Island south jetty, a SNOW BUNTING was
present near the second shelter.


Sightings for Tuesday, December 12th:

In Delta, the 2 EURASIAN COLLARED DOVES were present at
3706 88th St.


Sightings for Monday, December 11th:

In Delta, the GYR FALCON was present east of 112th St along the
Boundary Bay dyke.


Sightings for Sunday, December 10th:

In Blaine, WA, an immature KING EIDER was found on Friday,
December 8th and is still present today. The bird was present at the
Semiahmoo Resort near Blaine, Whatcom Co. which is within
Drayton Harbour. For further details see the TWEETERS E-mail group..

Also in WA, the EMPEROR GOOSE continues just south of
Snohomish, near Everett. For further details see the TWEETERS

In Penticton, two LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLS, an adult
and a second-winter bird, were present on the Okanagan Lake
Beach at Rotary Park. For further details see the BCINTBIRD E-mail
group.

In North Delta, 2 PINE GROSBEAKS continue at 95th Ave and
Grant Place. A TOWNSEND'S WARBLER was nearby.

In Coquitlam around the 3000 block Spurraway Ave, a
TOWNSEND'S WARBLER was present.


Sightings for Saturday, December 9th:

In Vancouver, a SNOWY OWL was present at 3866 West 36th Ave.

At the Reifel Bird Sanctuary in Delta, a SWAMP SPARROW was
seen near the viewing tower, and a BARN SWALLOW was nearby.


Sightings for Friday, December 8th:

In Washington, just south of Snohomish on Highway 9, the adult
EMPEROR GOOSE was present for its sixth day.


No reports for Thursday, December 7th.


Sightings for Wednesday, December 6th:

At Burnaby Mountain, a TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was present.

In Delta, at the exit to Hwy 10 and Hwy 99, the GYRFALCON was seen.

In North Delta, 5 PINE GROSBEAKS continue around 95th Ave and
Grant Place.


Sightings for Tuesday, December 5th:

At the base of the Roberts Bank coal port jetty in Delta, a
MARBLED GODWIT and 2300 BRANT were seen.

At Boundary Bay Regional Park in Delta were 2 GREATER
WHITE-FRONTED GEESE and a WESTERN MEADOWLARK.

In South Surrey, at 152A St and 20th Ave were 2 PINE GROSBEAKS.


Sightings for Monday, December 4th:

In Delta, the 2 EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES were still
present at 3706 88th Street, near the foot of 88th.

On Sea Island, Richmond, a PINE GROSBEAK was present east of McDonald Beach.


Sightings for Sunday, December 3rd:

At the Reifel Bird Sanctuary in Delta, 4 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS
were present near the viewing tower with 3 COMMON REDPOLLS
nearby. Also at Reifel were 6 SANDHILL CRANES, 5 BLACK-CROWNED
NIGHT HERONS, a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, a BARRED OWL,
and a GREAT HORNED OWL. Both owls were in trees near the
phone booth along the entrance road.

At the foot of 72nd St in Delta, 2 SNOWY OWLS, a BARN OWL,
and 3 SHORT-EARED OWLS were seen. Another BARN OWL
was seen at the foot of 96th St. Along 36th Ave between 72nd
and 64th Streets, up to 15 SHORT-EARED OWLS were seen.

At Lighthouse Marine Park in Point Roberts, WA, 5 MARBLED
MURRELETS and an EARED GREBE were present.

At 208th St and 102B Ave, Langley, 2 PINE GROSBEAKS
and a WHITE-THROATED SPARROW were sighted.

At Pitt Meadows, 2 WESTERN MEADOWLARKS and a
ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK were seen along Neaves Road.
