Hello All,

George Exum reports a Northern Mockingbird on Puget Island, Wahkiakum co.,
12/19 thru today, 12/23. This bird has been somewhat sporadic
appearances. Photos have been taken. Several others have seen the bird,
and many of these same observers have NOT seen the bird, at various times,
despite living close to the bird's usual spots. In all, the most reliable
times for seeing this vagrant seem to be between 11 AM and 1 PM.

Location: Pass thru Cathlamet across the bridge to Puget Island, drive to
W. Birnie Slough, turn right (west) after stop sign, follow the water on
your right till W. Birnie Sl Rd bends left onto Ostervold Rd. Follow
Ostervold Rd (approx south) less than 1/2 mile and watch for commercial
metal shop (light blue metal bldgs) on your left. Watch for mail box
#199. Bird has been seen frequently to the left down a in draw near many
commercially grown (in rows) deciduous trees and many clusters of
non-native blackberries. Many Golden-crowned Sparrows, towhees, other
sparrows also found in this area at times. The mockingbird also feeds on
red berries of some bushes on the right, near this same mailbox. There is
a pull-out on the left, which accomodates two or three cars. There is not
much traffic on this road, but still some, so please be watchful, &
courteous to neighbors and passersby.
