This morning I checked pond at the end of Goodrich Rd. Very few
shorebirds in the AM, probably due to the Peregrine Falcon. The falcon
was perched in a tree along the river. However, there were still some
Buffleheads, Pintails, Shovelers, Green-winged Teal, Ring-necked Ducks,
American Wigeons, and 4 Hooded Mergansers on the pond. Along the trail
there were some Golden-crowned Sparrows, House Finches, 3 American
Goldfinches, 2 Pine Siskins, 1 Fox Sparrow, 1 Mourning Dove, and 1 Scrub
Jay. As for raptors, 1 Bald Eagle, 2 American Kestrels, and 2 Harriers.
Later in the afternoon, I returned to the pond and found that the
shorebirds had returned, but no yellowlegs of any sort. There were about
125+ Black-bellied Plovers and 200+ Dunlin. I also had 17 Trumpeter
Swans in the field to the north.

In the early afternoon, Sherry and I checked out some other places in
Lewis County, and found a nice little spot at the end of Spooner Rd.
Accessed from Hwy 6, turn north onto Spooner Rd. and follow it to the
end. We had 200+ Black-bellied Plovers, 500+ Dunlin, many Mew Gulls, 2
California Gulls, a Bald Eagle, and 2 American Kestrels.
