Greetings all,

Today Bruce Labar, Charlie Wright and I had an excellent morning in the vicinity of Snohomish. We started out about 9:15 checking out the swan flock along Hwy 9 where Steve M. originally found the bird. No Whooper so we drove down Marsh Road and at the first gate on the north side we pulled off where we a large number of swans were congregating. We stayed there and scanned for quite a while as many of the swans were in amongst a large stand of flooded corn stalks. We were hoping that the whooper would fly on out of there but again no luck at this location. Our consolation prize at this spot was the EMPEROR GOOSE in among 14 Greater White-fronted Geese.

A worker for the county drove by as we were scanning and gave us a few tips on where else to find flocks of swans, so we checked a field along Springhetti Road (First right as you cross back over Hwy 9 on Marsh Road) there were swans, but no Whooper. We checked Bob Heirman Park along Connely Road, with no luck. Finally we checked the first field we came to to the east of the intersection of Connely and Elliott, along Elliott Road. This field was on the left hand side and there was a road leading down into it. We parked at the top and scanned. Dennis Duffy drove by as we were scanning and told us that the bird was located in this field. 30 seconds later Charlie was on it and we all got nice long looks at the bird. We left the bird around 11:30.
