Greetings Tweeters,
My brother Tim, Oregon Birder Bob Stites, and I observed the Bainbridge
Island Blak Headed Gull between 0900 and 0930. We arrived at about 0800 and
began scanning the area. Finally about 0855, a large group of Mew Gulls
began feeding just off of the back/ east end of the closest large off shore
net pens. We located our first Boneparte's Gulls at this time (4), and
shortly after Tim spotted the BhGu in the feeding flock. Tim and Bob both
thought that the bird came around from the back side of the pens. Some very
nice views if a bit distant.
We then decided to push our luck an head to Point No Point for 1.5 hours.
Short story is no luck on LB Murrelet or TB Murre, but great views of many
Marbled and Ancient Murrelets among other stuff. What a great spot to watch
a lot of activity. We left just before noon. About that time Paul Hicks
took over the scanning duties. Perhaps he had better success than we did.
