This morning I checked the Goodrich pond and walked the trail. Lots of
waterfowl on the pond, due to the hunting going on in the area. There
were about 150 American Wigeon, 75+ Black-bellied Plovers, and 500+
Dunlin on the pond. Only 10 Trumpeter Swans, at least 7 Snow Geese were
seen in the fields. Along the trail there were a pair of Bald Eagles,
American Kestrel, Scrub Jay, Golden-crowned Sparrows, a pair of Hairy
Woodpeckers, and 1 Hermit Thrush.
In the afternoon I walked on part of the Willipa trail, accessed from
Cere Hill Rd. There were 2 Tundra Swans in the field. Along the trail I
had Fox Sparrows, Scrub Jays, Bushtits, Varied Thrush, and a pair of
Red-breasted Sapsuckers. This trail will end up in Raymond by going
west on it, and to the east, well it crosses Hwy 6 near Shuber Rd. and
goes somewhere, I'm not sure just yet.
Until next time. Have a Happy New Year.
