Tweets - the recent rains have created lakes out of low spots all over
Marymoor. The river level is higher than last week, but lower than the
previous two weeks before that. This meant that we could get to the lake
platform from the east. Much of the slough trail and interior dog meadow
are still closed and will remain so for weeks.

We were blessed with large swaths of blue sky amid the clouds. The stiff
and gusty winds even moderated for a few hours this morning. Now, we did
get a trace of precipitation at one point, and there certainly were some
gusty winds. But really, it wasn't as bad as expected.

It wasn't very birdy, either, but the new North Lake (normally Lot B)
provided some interest, and we generally had a good time tromping around
anyway.

Highlights:

Cackling Goose One on "North Lake" early
Common Goldeneye Great looks on slough near entrance bridge
Great Blue Heron Larger than usual numbers,
in every pond and puddle
DUNLIN One at "North Lake" - first since 2004 at the
park
Great Horned Owl Matt heard a pair west of the park, early
Anna's Hummingbird Male at Rowing Club, another near shops
Winter Wren One in full song

We had one flock of small finches that flew kinda like Pine Siskin, but
which could have been American Goldfinch. Could never get a good look
though.

The Cackler, Dunlin, and Anna's were all new for the year.

We had 46 species for the day, and we're up to 76 species for the year.
