The following interesting birds have been seen in the Spokane area during
the past week:
A female WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL was still at Mt Spokane Jan 25, in the condo
area.
An adult GYRFALCON was in extreme western Spokane Co, south of hwy 2, on Jan
26. Later attempts to locate were unsuccessful.
On Jan 27th, 21 TREE SPARROWS were at the intersection of McFarelane and
Coulie-Hite Rds in western Spokane Co, south of hwy 2. 3 SHORT-EARED OWLS
are in this same area.
SNOWY OWLS have become more difficult to find. The county line & hwy 2 owl
was seen Jan 27th, but evidently not since. A couple have been seen this
week in Lincoln Co in the Reardon/ Davenport area.
NORTHERN GOSHAWKS have graced 2 Spokane yards this week.
20 GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCHES were again briefly on the Corder ranch Feb 1.
BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS continue with small flocks in Cheney, Medical Lake,
Fairfield, and Spokane Valley.
A wintering YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER was in Spokane Valley Jan 24.
