Hi Tweeters,

I stopped by Medina Park on the way to work this
morning. The Great Blue Herons are already
displaying. I saw one pair in the top nest of the
bare cottonwood tree bill snapping and allopreening.
A heron was in the next nest down for quite some time
and just before I left one of the herons from the top
tree did a beautiful display type flight, wings
completely spread not humped like they usually are,
using short flaps and neck extended. Worthy of a
videocamera. It flew in a loop and displaced the
heron in the lower nest. A short time later it chased
another heron away that landed on a tree branch.

Singing birds included Robins in full voice, Song
Sparrow, Black-capped Chickadee, and Red-winged
Blackbirds. Many wigeon, guestimate 200+ with at
least 2 Eurasian males. Bald Eagle and Merlin
represented the raptors.
