Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge, Thursday, February 2, 2006
Quite to the surprise of the five birders on last Thursday's walk, not a drop of rain fell before we completed the full loop of the refuge. While our leader Phil Kelly was visiting family in sunny Florida, we had a great day right here in the Pacific Northwest. Highlights included great close-ups of two snowy owls, a single barn swallow, pacific loon, western and horned grebe, snow and brant geese, pileated woodpecker, and many bald eagles (eight were in one tree).
We're looking forward to a cool, but sunny walk next Thursday.
