Regarding that website:

www.Bavarianbirds.de

I was just browsing some more there, and followed some of the extensive links; not all of which are accessible to me. Maybe my MAC deters some of them. Anyway, to further answer a couple of messages I received directly, asking about Germany, it appears that the area around Berlin (Brandenburg province) is excellent "hunting" grounds forsome much sought after specialties.

And to think I was stationed in Berlin, but could not gain access to them!

i.e.:
Hoopoes; Lesser Spotted Eagles; Black Storks; Ortolan Buntings; et al.

I did see a soaring flock of White Storks over Berlin in the 1950's.

Also on that website, it pointed out that the Woodchat Shrike (Rotkopf Wuerger) is headed for extinction/extirpation in Germany. I saw a live juvenile and a road-killed adult (its parent?) west of the Rhine; plus a possible flying adult just north of Augsburg. (They show a lot of white in flight.)

Well, so much for more trivia.
