I spent a casual day birding the Nisqually NWR loop trail and just enjoying the great weather for a change. On the way to the refuge I made a quick stop at the Mouth of the Cedar River to check for the EARED GREBE and CLARK'S GREBE, and was fortunate enough to see both. Highlights at Nisqually were:
Snowy Owl - one bird seen on some driftwood out from the Observation Tower
Snow Goose - one bird seen hanging out with a large flock of Cackling Geese
Northern Shrike
Merlin
American Kestrel
Hutton's Vireo
Red-throated Loon - 4 seen looking toward Luhr Beach boat landing
Eurasian Wigeon
