Tweets,
Mon & Tues I found some birds of interest.
- 2 Wh-t Kites, Rock Prairie west of Tenino viewed from the end of Mima
Acres Dr (walk out past the red shed), and visible from road at 17941
(generally from Brittany Ln to the end).
- 2 calling pygmy owls, Vantine Rd at the "S" curve and at end of road (~2.5
mi)
- Brown-h Cowbird, on Waldrick Rd north of Military (along "bluebird trail")
with flock of starlings and blackbirds. There may have been more than one.
Don't know if this bird has been present thru winter, but normally I don't
expect them this far from saltwater in winter.
- no bluebirds yet at Waldrick or Wier Prairie
- Snowy Owl at Nisqually NWR visible from the barns viewpoint in the trees
out toward the delta. First one I've seen in flight, took off while in
scope. Pretty cool!
- Missed the Snow Geese for the second time.
Good birding!
