Yesterday (7 February) Ryan Shaw and I birded at Ocean Shores. Our first
stop, Hoquiam STP, produced a 2nd cycle Glaucous Gull, apparently the same
bird that has been there since December. The Point Brown Jetty produced very
little, outside of 5 Rock Sandpipers. A very white Glaucous Gull did a
cruise-by, and we later saw the same bird on the game range.

We scanned the game range from a pulloff on Marine View Drive and spotted an
immature GYRFALCON. As it was about 1/2 mile distant, we ventured into the
game range from Tonquin Avenue to get a closer look. The bird remained on
the driftwood until we were suitably close, then powered over to the area of
the sewage ponds.

Fred Boesche and I birded Pacific County on Monday, 6 February. Some places
were fairly slow, but we did have some highlights. There was a 1W Glaucous
Gull at Graveyard Spit near Tokeland, in the company of 35 Long-billed
Curlews. Later in the day, at the jetty at Fort Canby there was a Clark's
Grebe.
