Tweets - the weather wasn't as nice this morning as it was yesterday or
Monday, but at least it wasn't still raining or too cold. We even had
patches of blue sky. It was somewhat birdy, and quite a few species were
singing.

The big highlights, though, weren't the birds but the mammals. Matt and I
had the cutest little LONG-TAILED WEASEL right near our cars in the Lot C
parking lot. It dashed under the dumpster, poked its head out, then bounced
across the grass to the aspen trees. Half and hour later, we had just
related this to others on the trip when we spotted ANOTHER weasel, so
everyone could see one. Later, at the lake, we saw a RIVER OTTER hauled out
on the new dock southwest of Marymoor.

As for birds, we had a few:

Pied-billed Grebe About 30 on the lake
Horned Grebe 2-3 on the lake
Western Grebe 1-2 on the lake
Great Horned Owl Heard west of Marymoor early
Ruby-crowned Kinglet Partial songs, lots of red showing
Townsend's Warbler 2 east of mansion
Lincoln's Sparrow 2-3 at Compost Piles
Purple Finch 2 along east trail
PINE SISKIN 1 with goldfinches near weir

The Siskin was new for the year, bringing us up to 77 species. We had 53
species for the day.
