Apparently, upon further digging, the Blue Goose vs Snow Goose is dependent
on a single gene, two allele system, with partial dominance.

This does not clearly explain the variability in gene expression.

In any case, I still think that Blue Geese wandering farther west to Wrangel
Island is more likely than spontaneous mutation, especially given that
multiple birds have been involved.
