Subject: [Tweeters] A riot of Robins
Date: Feb 9 19:04:20 2006
From: Rob Sandelin - floriferous at msn.com

Upon this sunny afternoon I went back to Al Borlin Park in Monroe to remove
some stakes I had put in. There were easily 30 robins near the trailhead. On
the way back, my arms loaded with stakes, I turned the corner and shortly
after the robins sort of exploded into a swirling mass of chirping
commotion. Their alarm calls were surprisingly loud and at first, with my
Monkey ego, I thought they were reacting to me and my stakes. In fact I
stopped and thought about doing an experiement of walking the path again
without stakes. My foolish notion was cut short by the dark shadow of an
accipter, moving low and too fast for confident ID. Rats. I thought maybe
that Robins had a phobia about wooden stakes....Dang, another great
scientific discovery down the drain.....
