Hi Tweeters,

I was with the group at John Coulon Park in Renton late yesterday afternoon
when the Slaty-backed Gull was finally seen on the log boom. In the waning
light I took some photos of it, which are not very good because of the
light conditions and the distance. I put five of them in a folder in the
new photos folder on my website. Most of the field marks can be seen in my
photos. The mantle of the Slaty-backed Gull was nearly black and was
considerably darker than any of the Western Gulls there.

Earlier in the day I found the Red-shouldered Hawk along Backman Road near
the intersection of Independance and Van Dyke Roads southwest of Rochester
in southwest Thurston County. It was perched in a bare deciduous tree in
the middle of the pasture on the west side of Backman Road when I first saw
it but it flew to the tops of several evergreens during the half hour I was
there. Three photos of it are also in the new photos folder on my website.

Bob (the gull) wasn't in the field at 212th and 59th Place in Kent and the
Tufted Duck that has been seen along 204th in Kent wasn't there yesterday
when I sopped by. Bob also failed to show up at Coulon Park.
