The Red-shouldered Hawk was patroling its regular turf this morning on both sides of Independence Rd. near Rochester. From approximately 9:15 to 10:00 am this morning, I observed this beautiful bird cruising from a deciduous tree on the river side of Independence Rd. to a deciduous tree behind 13149 Independence to a coniferous tree further uphill, where it was more easily observed from Backman to another coniferous tree even further uphill, where it was mobbed by some Common Ravens, after which it flew to another deciduous tree behind the house at 13149. It stayed in Thurston County the entire time I watched it.
