Hello Tweets,

Yesterday afternoon I spent a few hours browsing around Potholes Reservoir,
Potholes State Park, and Moses Lake.
Birds of note included 3 TREE SWALLOWS and a single BARN SWALLOW at
Potholes State Park, notable due to the early date. This may be the first
personal sighting of Tree Swallow in February for me. Two Red-breasted
Mergansers on Potholes Reservoir (viewed from O'Sullivan Dam) were notable
as well.
A MEW GULL on Moses Lake was a nice addition for the year, as was a flock
of 5 Greater Scaup.
Goose numbers are beginning to build and several thousand geese were
observed at fairly close range on Moses Lake. Both Canada and Cackling Geese
were in mixed flocks with moffitti and parvipes races predominating the
Canada flocks, and taverneri predominating the much small numbers of
Cackling Geese. One minima was picked out of the smaller Cackling Geese, and
several lighter breasted small individuals were noted, but firm identities
left wanting.

Cheers and Good Birding
