Tweets,
This is a great opportunity to collect and share information about bird
distribution in February. It is also an opportunity to have backyard
birders share information with the public about potential rarities and
unusual sightings. I really encourage everyone to participate.
There are several contests as part of the GBBC including:
Top 10 states - This should be a snap for us!
Top 5 communities - One would think Seattle could come up with more than
Gauthier Mississippi for number of participants! They won last year with
over 500 submissions.
Top community within the state of Washington - Tacoma, Spokane, Vancouver
are you out there?
Best Photos during the count - We have some fantastic bird photographers
here - and if there is a rare or unusual record a photo would certainly be
nice to have as part of confirmation.
Currently I'm the lone reviewer for potential rarity/misreported species for
the entire state of Washington for this effort. I could really use a team
member or team members to help with the review particularly someone from the
dry side and someone from the southwest. If you're interested in helping
please contact me and I'll have the Audubon folks set you up to review.
PS - I'd love to have someone post this to the OBOL and NW-INLAND lists - I
only read them via a web tool and don't have posting authority set up.
Thanks
