Subject: [Tweeters] Mystery Bird

Today I saw a bird fly to a tall evergreen tree about a block away. It
definitely wasn't an accipiter, wings were too pointed, and it didn't have a
flap-flap-glide or flap-flap-flap-flap-glide flight style. Its flight was
rapid and straight. Once it lit on the tree I decided it was too big to be
a robin and too small to be a crow. Naturally, it took off before I got my
scope set up, but I got a not-great look at it thru my bins. It was darkish
and definitely a raptor.

I think there's a Merlin in my neighborhood in West Bremerton.

Lately I've heard a call I wasn't able to ID. After seeing this bird I
listened to the Merlin call on BNA Online, and I'm 95% sure that's what I
was hearing.

I've seen it a couple times now and will keep my eyes peeled. More info/a
better description to follow if possible.

Way cool!,
Mary
